How to Pay for Your Car Shipment: Payment Methods & Timing

Car shipping payment works in two stages: a partial amount at dispatch and the remainder at delivery. Here is every accepted payment method and exactly when each payment is due.

How Payment Works at Web Auto Transport

We offer two payment structures:

Payment Option 1: Cash Saver Price

Stage 1 - At dispatch (when carrier is confirmed):

$0 at booking. A small partial payment by credit card, debit card, or ACH. This secures your carrier and confirms your shipment.

Stage 2 - At delivery:

The remaining balance is paid directly to the driver. Accepted methods: cash, cashier's check, money order. Personal checks and credit cards are not accepted by drivers at delivery. Electronic payments via Zelle, Venmo, or Cash App may be available if accepted by the carrier.

Best for: Customers who prefer to pay the truck driver directly and want the lowest quoted rate.

Payment Option 2: Card Price

Pay the full amount by card when your carrier is assigned. No payment is due at pickup or delivery, fully digital and contactless.

Best for: Customers who prefer an all-digital experience with no cash handling at delivery.

Payment Methods Accepted

Stage Accepted Methods
At dispatch (partial or full) Credit card, debit card, ACH
At delivery (remaining balance) Cash, cashier's check, money order. (Zelle, Venmo, Cash App)*

Important: Personal checks and credit cards are generally not accepted by carriers at delivery. Always confirm with your carrier at dispatch which methods they accept.

When Payment Is NOT Required

Web Auto Transport charges $0 at booking. You do not pay anything when you first place your order. Payment only begins when a verified carrier is confirmed for your shipment.

This is our core customer protection policy. Any company that demands full payment before assigning a carrier is a significant red flag.

Payment Security

All payments processed through Web Auto Transport use SSL encryption via Authorize.net. We do not store your payment card data on our servers. Your financial information is fully protected.

Q&A

Q: Why can't I pay everything by credit card?

Most carriers are independent operators who prefer immediate certified funds at delivery. This is a long-standing industry standard. The Card Price option offers a fully card-based alternative if you prefer.

Q: Can someone else pay on my behalf?

Yes. Anyone can make the dispatch payment online. For delivery payment, whoever is receiving the vehicle should have the correct amount and payment method ready.

Q: What if I do not have cash at delivery?

Arrange an alternative with your carrier before delivery day. Zelle and other digital payment apps are widely accepted. Never let delivery day be the first time you discuss payment methods with the driver.

Q: Is it safe to pay the driver directly?

Yes. Your carrier is FMCSA-licensed, vetted, and has been confirmed by Web Auto Transport. COD to the carrier is standard industry practice with built-in accountability.

Q: Can I tip the driver?

Tipping is optional but appreciated for great service. $25-$75 is a common tip for long-haul deliveries. Pay in cash.

Q: What if the carrier asks for more money at delivery than my confirmed price?

Your price is locked at dispatch. If a driver requests more than your confirmed amount, contact us immediately at (760) 932-2886 before paying anything extra.
